The National – Abu Dhabi Media Company’s first English newspaper – was born out of a vision that recognises the key role that a free, professional and enlightened press plays in national development. Founded by Martin Newland, The National was launched in April 2008 to provide the country’s first genuinely national and international newspaper produced in the United Arab Emirates. Now headed by Hassan Fattah, The National continues to lead the region in analytical content and comment. The National is put together by more than 250 reporters and writers drawn from leading publications around the world, with section editors from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, the Press Association and British broadsheets The Times and The Daily Telegraph.
