The $7.5 million tournament, to be staged at the Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 25-28, has issued free season tickets to Taaleem schools – such as Uptown High, Jumeirah Baccalaureate and Raha International – to distribute among the multi-national 4,000 students and their parents as part of the celebrations around the final tournament in the 2010 Race to Dubai.
“The Dubai World Championship is a unique event that will have something for everyone in terms of sport, entertainment and F&B so we look forward to welcoming the students and their parents to the Earth course,” said Dubai World Championship director Colin Smith.
“We want the city to share in the excitement of the last tournament of the season and help us celebrate what has been an historic year for the players of the European Tour.”
As well as three Major winners from 2010 – Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen – the event will also feature the entire winning European Ryder Cup team, including World Number One Lee Westwood, with the best 60 players battling it our for the lion’s share of the prize fund and a slice of the US$7.5 million Bonus Pool.
Accepting the tickets on behalf of Taaleem was Taaleem CEO Ziad Azzam and Director of Communications Clive Pierrepont.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity of introducing our students to the tournament – it really was an outstanding success in 2009,” said Pierrepont. “Our older students will be able to enjoy the tournament and see what goes into putting on one of the Middle East’s major sporting occasions.
