The Making of a Legend

The Earth course was chosen as the host course of the Dubai World Championship following designer Greg Norman’s visit to the site in early 2008. During the visit, Norman stretched the course out to more than 7,000 yards in length from The Championship tees, relocated and reshaped greens complexes and added numerous additional bunkers.

Since then, development has kept apace, with grassing completed in April 2008, leaving two full growing seasons until first play in November 2009. Landscaping is proceeding with all 18 holes now well defined, and work has started on the definition of tournament grass lines. In the lead up to the Dubai World Championship, intensive maintenance will continue to ensure that the course is in pristine condition, with the installation of bunker sand commencing in early 2009.
