US hotshot Anthony Kim secured his place in this month’s Dubai World Championship as he finished runner-up in the Volvo World Match Play in Spain.
The 24-year-old took home a cheque for €450,000 (capped to €361,408 for the purposes of the money list) after losing out four and three in the final to Englishman Ross Fisher.
Kim jumps to 39th position in The Race to Dubai and will comfortably qualify for the $7.5m tournament, which takes place at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 19-22.
“I gave it all I had but unfortunately it wasn’t good enough,” said Kim.
“It was an up-and-down battle all day and I never seemed to get anything going. All credit to Ross though; he played great.”
