A recharged and revitalised Ian Poulter jumped to tenth place in The Race to Dubai as he won his first European Tour tournament in three years at the Barclay’s Singapore Open.

The Englishman claimed his first title on The European Tour since the Madrid Open in 2006 after holding on for a one-shot victory in the $5 million co-sanctioned event.

The 33-year-old now heads to the HSBC Champions in Shanghai and was looking forward to picking up more Race to Dubai ranking points ahead of the Dubai World Championship, which takes place at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 19-22.

“The Race to Dubai is coming up in November and I want to put as much money on the board in the amount of events I have left to play,” said Poulter.

“I limit my schedule to make sure I can play and stay fresh so it was key to come out early into this run of tournaments and put some money on the board.”
