The Championship Village, the heart of the entertainment offering at the Dubai World Championship, has seen thousands of visitors enjoy the range of activities on offer this weekend.

With everything thing from the range of F&B outlets through to fitness and retail, the village has had something for everyone.

The F&B offerings have been hugely popular, with the Fish & Chips stand coming out on top selling approximately 900 portions to hungry golf fans each day.

Visitors have also been keeping cool by snapping up Costa’s Frescatos, with over 300kgs of ice used over the weekend to make the frozen drinks.  Over at Baskin-Robbins, around 4,000 scoops of ice-cream have been sold on a daily basis.

Edd Beamish, Catering Manager for Emirates Leisure Retail, who has been overseeing the F&B offerings in the village and across the course said Left Bank, the restaurant and bar located on the 17th green, has also been a tremendous success.

He said:

“Left Bank has been very popular with spectators, VIPs and players alike.  I’ve worked at golf tournaments across the region and the UK, and have never seen a facility located that close to the course – it has just been fantastic.”

Fashion-conscious ladies have also been snapping up the official Dubai World Championship Ralph Lauren polo shirts.  The most popular colour has been pink.

Visitors have also enjoyed the Fitness First area where they have taken up the 1km cycle challenge.  With a six month free membership on offer to the cyclist recording the shortest time, current leader Matt Hill, 32 from Dubai, has faced some tough competition but has managed to stay at the top since Friday.
