Day three of the Dubai World Championship presented by: DP World received a big surge in attendance with 21,430 spectators making their way to Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The figures mean more than 43,000 spectators have attended the Championship so far, exceeding initial predictions for the season-ending tournament
Saeed Harib, Managing Director of Nakheel Leisure, said:
“All along, we’ve wanted to stage a tournament that really is for the fans. Earlier this year, we took the decision to offer free entry and it’s really paid dividends.
“The great thing today has been seeing fans all over the course, with every pairing getting a good following.
“The atmosphere has been fantastic, a real celebration of some great golf.”
Harib added that organisers were looking forward to another bumper gate tomorrow as the season-long Race to Dubai reached its gripping conclusion.
“The Race to Dubai looks like it really will go to the wire, with Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy making a real battle of it. It’s going to be a fantastic last day.”
